Growing Bones Pediatric & Neuromuscular Orthopaedic Institute is dedicated to expanding exceptional subspecialty orthopaedic care to all children and individuals with chronic neurologic conditions in Central and Southern Delaware. We treat all general pediatric orthopaedic conditions including: trauma, congenital and adolescent disorders, and sports injuries. We specialize in the care of children and adults with chronic neurologic conditions such cerebral palsy, spina bifida and Down’s Syndrome.

Job Description: Medical Assistant/ Cast Tech
A pediatric orthopaedic surgery practice located in Dover, DE is in need of an experienced, part-time medical assistant/cast tech for a growing medical practice. The ideal candidate should have experience in all aspects of patient care. The medical assistant should possess skills in using healthcare software and computer programs. The ideal candidate should have exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to problem-solve independently with a positive attitude. Experience in applying casts and bracing recommended but not required…we’re looking for a candidate with an attitude ready to learn! Experience working with children is a plus!
Duties Include:
- Performs daily patient activities; check in/out, and patient intake.
- Promotes and performs excellent customer service.
- Follows office policies and procedures.
- Performs data entry tasks to document patient records within facility databases and maintaining patient files.
- Attends staff meetings for administrative and clinical staff.
Essential Function of a Medical Assistant/Cast Tech:
- Recording patients' vital signs, documenting physicians' notes and changes in medical conditions.
- Applying and removing casts and braces.
- Create patient home exercise programs.
- Prepping exam rooms for clinical procedures and assisting practitioners with patient care.
- Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms for physicians' review during clinical exams.
- Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention, and assistance during office visits.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Technology:
- Proficiency in Microsoft word and excel. Understanding of Electronic Medical Record (e.g. Athena); Familiarity with telecommunications systems and Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN).
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Certified Medical Assistant.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of one year in a medical setting.
- Minimum of one year applying/removing casts.
Job Description: Medical Receptionist
A pediatric orthopaedic surgery practice located in Dover, DE is in need of an experienced, part-time Medical Receptionist for a growing medical practice. The ideal candidate should have experience in all aspects of customer service. The medical receptionist should possess skills in using healthcare software and computer programs. The candidate should have experience in a medical office and communicate effectively with patients and their families. Ability to problem-solve independently with a positive attitude is essential to this position.
Duties Include:
- Patient registration and scheduling.
- Patient check in/out.
- Answer incoming calls/make outgoing calls.
- Process medical record requests.
- Payment collections and processes.
- Data entry.
- Follows office policies and procedures.
- Performs filing and organizational systems for the front office.
- Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations.
- Attends staff meetings for administrative and clinical staff.
Essential Function of a Medical Receptionist:
- Promote and perform excellent customer service.
- Greet and attend to patients in person and over the phone.
- Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Technology:
- Proficiency in Microsoft word and excel. Understanding of Electronic Medical Record (e.g. Athena); Familiarity with telecommunications systems, Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN), Humana and Availity.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Minimum of six months in a medical office setting.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and IT skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish speaking) strongly preferred.
